Better timber needed for handles.
Just bought these shears as I wanted a set with a wooden handle so thought great just what I needed and they are. The steel blades are exactly what I wanted but the wooden handle has split and started to come apart, now so that I am not misunderstood I think it is because the way the handle has been cut to receive the steel blades has been engineered incorrectly, (insofar as the wood has been drilled against the grain of the timber and not along it) this has caused a weakness with the timber handles resulting in them splitting. I’ll be making new handles when I get a new piece of timber but I’ll be working with the grain in the timber to relieve and stress the timber may have to avoid it splitting. As I have already said the steel blades are excellent it’s just the quality of the timber handles that let the product down.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Horrible and Defective Design
Horrible! Handles broke in the first 15min of pruning my boxwood hedge! Went down to my Da's house to get grandfather's pruners to finish the job! The scalloped blade design also just pushes leaves and twigs out rather than cutting them. The metal is also so soft a twig with a 4mm diameter according to my machinists calipers, burred the blades!!!!!! I guess what do you expect for £8? Going to have to make my own (I am a blacksmith) but just wanted to save some time by buying them.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Nice Garden Shears
I bought them to replace my very old hedge shears. They are not as good as the old ones because the blades are thinner 4.0 and 3.8 mm, the old ones were 4.6 mm. They are about ⅓ the price of S&J shears. Time will tell how long they last, I could see no obvious faults with them. They can be tightened.
