I would like to give this item a good review but I honestly can’t. Whilst it does work, it has to be totally dark before the light comes on. I purchased this as a replacement for one I have had for several years which had started to play up. It turned out to be the same make as the one I was replacing so I didn’t expect a problem. Now I see the light...
The dawn-to-dusk sensor on the block of flats I live in wasn't working properly, so the indoor lights would be on most of the time. This sensor is the exact same outline and fit as the original IP65 Royce Thompson P3 Cadmium Sulphide sensor - twist and pull, like a bayonet lightbulb - but uses modern electronics and a relay in place of the mechanical bimetal strip switch of the 25 year-old one (although the sensing element is still a CdS cell). It came complete with the support bracket/socket, but the existing one was still in good condition, so I didn't use that, but still have it for future use if that proves necessary. I expect that the plastic quality is better than the old one too, but even so, that item still lasted over 25 years without significant deterioration. Hopefully, this new component will last at least as long as the original...Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
