Great remaster of a classic album
'In a glass house', released in 1973, is one of the best Gentle giant albums and was recorded during their most creative period of 1972-75. As with most Gentle giant, the album mixes storming tunes with quirky, irregular, intriguing little sections of music providing an enthralling musical experience. For a progressive rock band bombast is keep to a minimum and the emphasis is very much on good songs, clever musical ideas and great levels of invention.
The 2009 remaster is punchy with great, bouncing bass and a nice top end. Audiophile purists probably won't like it because it is slightly juiced up in terms of volume and EQ, but it sounds fantastic on my budget hi-fi -- much better than the 2000 release which sounded tepid and a bit drab. Although I already owned a copy of this classic album, I am glad I bought this 2009 remaster. It has really added to my enjoyment of the album.
