  • A good entry level product.

As with all Hornby's "Railroad" range, this is basically a model as produced between the 1960s & 1980s & hence (intentionally) lacks the fine detailing that modern enthusiasts demand, hence it is eminently suitable for children who may be "heavy handed" with such items. The biggest criticism I have, is that the the design of the inner moulded packaging is such that it doesn't fully support the flat bed chassis & thus this has a tendency to sag in the middle & hence the two containers lean in towards each other, I have four of these wagons & they all exhibit this same fault. Hence I would recommend that prospective purchasers consider "padding out" the model whilst it is kept in its box, in order to help straighten out the flat bed whilst it is in storage. Other than that & given the high prices of many other models nowadays, it still represents good value for money, despite the sagging problem.

  • Recommended for railway modellers on a budget.

For the price, these are decent quality and work great. They are part of the economy Railroad range from Hornby and cost from £15 to £25 depending on the outlet that sells. Not much detail but extremely robust and durable. You won't break anything if your model train crashes on the layout and they are a nice cheap way to make a long freight train on your layout. I plan to buy more of these anyway!

  • It's ok.

It looks good. It's a little on the light side - needs weight added. Best to replace wheels with metal ones.

  • A bit lightweight

It is a bit lightweight, rattles a bit on the track, but hasn’t derailed
