    Great for the money

Good for the money. As you might expect with a narrow tube and short focal length the mirror is quite curved this leads to the outer edge of the image being a bit distorted compared say to a 110mm mirror with a longer tube. The center of the image is clear with no distortion. I'm pleased with its ease of use and it can be deployed in seconds.

Beginners telescope at a budget cost but very good for what it does

It's a beginners scope at a budget cost so your expecatations should be realistic. But, it IS a very good starters telescope, made a renowned company. It doesn't connect to a tripod though and so you will have to have a table or similar for it to sit on

  • The best ‘first telescope’

I read about this as being the best first telescope on a budget, and it certainly is. Solid, well made, certainly doesn’t feel like a ‘toy’, as so many do. Although it says for 13 years and over on box, I bought it for my 8 year old grandson’s birthday as he is mad on the planets, and he absolutely loves it!

  • Celestron Reflector Telescope MPN 21024-CGL

This is great for a first telescope. I use it a lot. If only there was a way to buy additional lenses for greater distance viewing.

  • Great portable Newton reflector for the money!

I was sceptical about this scope but it's actually very good. Great for younger persons and starters into the hobby, but don't underestimate its potential. Very sturdy base and smooth rack and pinion focusing accepting 1.25" eye pieces. The two supplied eyepieces are not bad but I spent £20 on some additional eyepieces (plossy) and the difference is noticeable. Pro's... very sturdy for the size, portable, light, could be placed into a small back pack, two eyepieces supplied, good construction with covers. Easy to operate. Con's... eye pieces need upgrading, spherical primary mirror not parabolic, lack of finder scope or laser target means finding stars especially at 4mm eyepiece magnification is VERY frustrating. Could be improved with a holding facility on the mount to house the two supplied eye pieces. Overall a great little scope, I took the photo below with a 20mm eyepiece on a 2x Barlow lens using a Nikon 42mm T adapter ring to 1.25" eyepiece adapter. Camera was a Nikon D600 on still photo mode (not video) with live view as focus aid. Slightly sharpened in Photoshop and cropped square. Overall I am pleased with the results but has limitations for anything other than the moon. You can just about make out the four moons of Jupiter. Regards. Graham.

  • Good for first scope

As they say, you get what you pay for. For its price, it is a good first scope. Was able to see Jupiter and its moons last week, see photo. Does what it says on the tin. For the money, it's hard to complain about optical distortion at the edges of the image.

  • Great for a beginner

I don't know much about telescopes, but I bought this as my first and I am very impressed with it as a beginner, but to get the most from it I needed to buy a finderscope and a diagonal. A great first telescope.
