  • the Surge is a technological marvel with terrible battery life but well worth the effort of fitting a new battery.

Anyone thinking of buying a Fitbit Surge at this stage of the product's lifetime should assume that it will require a new battery, if not immediately, then in the near future. The Fitbit community website has many comments from Surge owners who had the batteries expire after just two years or so. Fitbit does not offer a battery replacement service. Replacement batteries are inexpensive but it is a very fiddly job to fit one. If you own a soldering iron with a fine tip and a set of small torx drivers, and if you are confident doing such work, then you could have a very useful fitness tracker with a wide range of capabilities. Other things to note include the requirement for Android 8, or above for the mobile application and access to the M$ store for the windows application, officially. Unofficially previous versions of both applications might be available elsewhere. In summary, the Surge is a technological marvel with terrible battery life, so well worth the effort of fitting a new battery.

  • Great watch, no band on strap though.

Watch arrived, it was for my wife. She's had one before so knows how to work it. There was no band on the strap to tuck the strap in when it's on so the strap comes loose.
