Great working doorbell cam with just the right features.
A lot of people seem to have problems with the Simplisafe doorbell. It does take some effort to get all doorbell cams working. With this one, make sure you have a mechanical doorbell. If you replace an electronic one, be sure to remove the diodes from the doorbell buttons. I had to replace the transformer, but it was 15 years old. Anyway, the Siplisafe doorbell connected easily after that and works perfectly. The picture quality and wide angle view is perfect. Motion detection works great. Inconsistent and not worth the cost
I wanted to like this doorbell, but I've unfortunately have had nothing but issues since install. The function to talk to someone doesn't work at all, its garbled and people cannot hear you when you try to talk to them. The range is ridiculous on what it chooses to pick up on motion and what it won't. There's also a significant delay in what's actually happening vs what you see on the app. More often than not the person has already come and gone before I can get the connection to see what's happening through the camera. Another issue is constant disconnection which leads to "video lost" and my router is less that 20 feet away from the doorbell. I am now considering having to purchase an additional booster to get this thing to possibly work better, which I should not have to do. Both of my cameras (the doorbell and an outdoor camera) are within 20 ft of the router and have this problem. Before I spend more money on getting a faster internet connection I will be forced to buy simplisafe's booster for another $25 after I've already spent well over $350 for the entire bare bones system that I currently have. I will also have to reconfigure what devices are on the wifi. The pros are the camera is very clear when viewed on my ipad and when it does actually work close to what its supposed to do, it's nice. But overall I am disappointed in the purchase and the need for further troubleshooting. Sadly after reading more reviews, the issues I am experiencing are typical. But I don't want to disconnect it and return it as that would create even more hassle. Camera adequacy
Resolution is great in the day and of course off a little bit a night, but adequate. With sensitivity set to max it triggers when cars drive down my street at night but for some reason it doesn't trigger when cars come by in the day. Great addition to my SimpliSafe system
Connecting the doorbell was very easy. I just had to remove the existing button and in about 20 minutes it was online. It is great size and looks awesome at the door. The picture is great. It records a short video when it detects movement and it alerts you as it is happening. Works fine just make sure you have 24 V available for it to operate

Dis NOT work
It did not work, nothing I did would make it work, I followed the instructions to the letter, and It would not work!! I called SimpliSafe and talked with Brian for over an hour, I followed his instructions to the letter, we even used multimeter to test the circuits, it would NOT WORK, and SimpliSafe could not get it to work.
