    Safe and Easy

Makes it easy to cut carpet and a lot safer than a Stanley knife. I've only used it on woven backed carpet, don't know how it would be with foam backed. Blades don't last very long and are hard/expensive to get replacements.

  • Most critical review

a useful tool as part of capret layers kit

the instrument rips through carpet. Sometimes it takes a bit to get it started. sometimes I need to start the cut with a sharp knife and finish with same.If I draw a strait line where I need to cut I can mostly keep to the line. That's good enough when it is being used to rip up old carpet while removing it. I am laying carpet tiles which have a very stiff backing and need to have very strait cuts if the tiles are to go together tightly. I do not find this instrument useful in these circumstances and I need to use a Stanley knife (sometimes called a craft knife)up against a tightly clamped 1 meter steel ruler for these situations. for the outlay it is a useful tool and seems sturdy enough quality.

  • No better than a knife

OK the design prevents you cutting through the carpet accidentally (as it cuts 'upwards' and away from the carpet) but really its easier to use a good 'Stanley' knife and put a piece of plywood under where you are cutting. Or just take more care when cuttng :-). . Also the blade required has two holes in it which is not the standard sort which is easily available. So its cheap but its just not solving a problem well enough to be worth buying.

  • Nice Tool But...

I haven't used this tool yet but I can see it's strong and very robust, and I have no doubt when I come to use it, it'll do a great job. However, the blades are very hard to find, not even those selling the tool are listing the blades. Replacement blades can be found, with a lot of searching, but if you're just laying your own carpets, and the odd one here and there for family and friends, it works out expensive as you'll need to buy in bulk.

  • The first cut is the deepest

The tool cuts very well and easily without excessive force required. However it came with only 1 blade and finding additional blades in small quantities was a problem. For a good sized carpet you will require 3 or 4 blades.

  • Lightweight and sharp carpet cutter

I used this carpet cutter for cutting a thin carpet and it was ideal for the job. I did find that I had to use something else for cutting round the edge of the door frame. I did not find it ideal for cutting a narrow strip of carpet.

  • Excellent tool

Perfect for cutting loose carpet off a roll or creating a shape.... But not up to edges if removing carpet already laid. Had to keep removing the carpet fluff from the blade to make it work, other than that, a great tool... Glides through carpet and underlay....

  • Worked quite well

Used this on some pretty thick carpet. Worked pretty well, obviously some elbow is needed to be put in.For the price and seeing I had only two rooms to do cant conplain.

  • Superb Product

Brilliant at the job it's designed to do. surely the demise of the old fashioned type.

  • Good Value for smaller jobs

Proved very useful for the relatively small carpeting job that I had to undertake, made the cutting easier to do and made cutting more accurate.
