Best of the Chicory Coffees
Among the available chicory coffees, Cafe du Monde surely comes in at number one. Few realize the medicinal offerings of chicory, but they are many. The dark roast is also a money-saver as it takes less coffee to brew a very nice, strong cup of deliciousness. Hard to find in small grocery stores and sometimes in the larger ones outside Louisiana, having it available on eBay is wonderful. Not for the average coffee drinker perhaps (it is a strong flavor) but for those who truly love rich, dark brews, this is one to try. Expected A New Orleans Delite
I assumed since Community Coffee(which is excellent) is made in Louisiana as well, that this coffee would be comparable. Eeeewwww! We could hardly drink one cup. My Favorite Coffee
Having a cup of Café du Mond brings back memories of when I lived in New Orleans out near Bayou St John, across from the Park. I used to spend many an evening at the Café. When I was in graduate school, about 100 miles away, I would get the urge for a cup and drive to NO and back in time for class in the morning. For the uninitiated, it is important to follow the directions, and serve the coffee with hot milk. I like mine with no sugar, but that is just me. Even better is to make some beignets to go with. As close to Vietnamese coffee as you can get
Maybe it is the same amazing coffee I had in Vietnam and since I came back from that great rip, I always thought about it and how can I get it. Well, turns out one of my best friends married a Vietnamese girl, so I asked her family what would they recommend , and there you have it. Excellent premium coffee
I drink coffee from sunup to sundown 7 days a week and am picky about the coffee I try. I don't like gimmick flavored coffee with added flavors but prefer coffee to be dark and bold & strong. This coffee is exactly that, very reminiscent of a expensive Columbian premium roast without the bitterness & acidity. I have heard it described as having a woody hint of flavor, I didn't get that but rather it had a very smooth enjoyable coffee taste. In short it's a coffee that other coffee should aspire to be & will become my daily coffee.
