Spectacular center channel that really impresses!
If you're looking for a Definitive Technology center channel speaker, the 9060 (or any generation 60-series) is the cheapest one that comes with an internal, powered subwoofer. If you have the outlet space, it's a worthy upgrade over the cheaper versions!
I paired this with a pair of Definitive Technology BP-8060ST front left-and-right tower speakers (including the bolt-on Atmos height modules), and just the basic Yamaha rear speakers that came with an older Yamaha 5.1 channel receiver. I'll eventually get replacements for those, but at the moment they're still doing their jobs. The whole thing is run by a Dennon AVR-X3300W receiver and it sounds incredible!
Prior to setting up the BP-8060's I'd read reviews about people pitching their subwoofers after hooking up those speakers. That sounded ridiculous to me, but I can confirm, after setting up the BP-8060's, there was really no use for a stand-alone sub. Having an additional sub in the center channel now kind of spreads the bass response more evenly across the whole front of the sound stage. Dialogue clarity is spectacular; clear and crisp without the highs being harsh or out-of-place. Everything just ...blends.
I've read many places that your center channel is the most important speaker in your setup. I'm not sure that's entirely true, but a high-quality center channel can definitely help compensate for more budget-friendly front-left-and-right speakers. If you've got quality left-and-right front speakers, this center will offer a remarkable addition to your front sound stage. If you have the money for the 60 series (or even 80 series) offering, you won't be disappointed!
