Think about what you are doing with this lense at all times.
The lens will diffinately cause damage to anything you concentrate sunlight on, I purchased it to see what it could do and it is much better than a magnifing glass.... I just wonder what something ten or a hundred times as big would do.... how about a one mile square lens orbiting three hundred miles overhead able to focus on a tank or aircraft for a couple of seconds. Even this small lens in the wrong hands or left in the wrong location could cause damage or injury, I punched holes through green leafs in just a second or so of focused sunlight.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Great lens, many uses
These lenses are so much fun, there are so many things you can do with them. I home school my kids and I bought several brands and this is my favorite. We made solar ovens, used the lenses to burn letters into wood and started campfires instantly with these. They also make great reading lenses when using with a book. Great magnification
This fresnel lens (8.5"x11") has great magnifying capability. I first thought that I would use it to augment the output of solar cells in my solar tracker, but it is so powerful that it would burn the solar cells. Good For What It Is

Using my fresnel lenses
