Great for those hard of hearing.

I use these devices to help people who are hard of hearing. These people have tried the loop function on their hearing aids and don't like the sound. The ADASTRA LR2 INDUCTION LOOP TESTER/RECEIVER fits their purpose and they are delighted. It comes with a pair of ear-phones, but I replace these with silicone earbud phones - or some people prefer to wear headphone that are open (light type). CONS: The only con is that they come without instructions and it is not obvious how to open the battery compartment - which actually slides open.

Confusing product but it does the job at an affordable price

This is at first a very confusing product. To turn it on, fit the battery and insert headphones. When on the red led lights, and is activated by inserting a 3.5cm Jack plug. The switch activates a low pass filter quite well. The volume knob adjusts the volume level in the earphones. Once you get used to these quirks it is actually pretty good. You can hear what hearing aid users on "t" setting. In su.mary it does the job at an affordable price

  • Used for Loop Testing at occasional meetings

I purchased the tester to check a portable & temporary loop set ups are functioning satisfactorily so that hearing impaired at the meeting can hear clearly and so follow the proceedings. One niggle, there were no user instructions with my unit and it is not clear that inserting the 3.5mm headphone jack activates the unit. There is a small toggle switch, for bas cut, with the word 'ON' marked. At first sight this could be the on-off switch as the similar Monacor unit uses. This Adastra does what it claims at a realistic price.

  • cost effective option for testing loop installations

Quality is ok but for the purposes of checking the installation of a hearing loop system this item is perfect. It is well worth the money to confirm a hearing loop works when you do not have the option of checking it by someone with a hearing aid. it has the benefit that checks can be made on a regular basis to ensure the loop remains effective. One other point to note is that interference caused by other electrical circuits or lighting etc can be checked whilst still being connected to the unit.

  • Good tester for the price

For the price, this is a good little unit to detect if a hearing loop is functioning correctly. I prefer my own light weight earphones rather than the supplied earpiece. Hearing loops are not HiFi neither is this unit so generally well matched for quality. The apparent off / on switch isn’t ! You turn the unit on by inserting the headphone jack plug. The switch activates a simple filter.

Seems to work well and is easy to use. We use it for our church car park, so whomever is on car park duty can listen to the service through the hearing aid loop. It does the job perfectly!

  • Great Value and No Longer Need Technician Call Out

This product has meant that we didn't need to call out the technician to troubleshoot the hearing system. Being at the price point it is, it isn't the highest quality sound, but is enough to be able to configure a loop system to get the best sound.

  • Useful and well priced device

Needed this to ensure that our induction loop was working. At least we now have a means of knowing whether our system is at fault or the hearing aid of a visitor.

  • A basic means to listen to what a loop system is doing.

This works well. Allowed me to listen to what sound is fed over the loop. It has a switchable filter to cut mains hum, on our system it reduced the level rather than eliminate it. However the speech was still loud enough for it to not be affected by it. Volume is adjustable. Switched on when the headphones are plugged in, off when they are removed. We have used it for a couple of hours so I don't know how long the battery lasts. For the price, it did what we needed it to do.
