You cannot change pads(sponge)

great polisher
I think this is intended to polish cars but I have a some great quality antique furniture and its a pain to polish it so I bought this to see if it would help. My wife’s cooper SD had body scratches fro the jet washer hose rubbing against the roof and front wings. It was only in the clear coat. So I rubbed the body with 2000 wet paper ( oh dear have I done the right thing) then applied mcguires Swirl remover with the DA polisher. “Great” results very pleased. It works brilliantly. Well worth it .
Sprayed the wing on my car , bit orange peely so had to buy this or pay for it to be polished , flatted it with 2000 wet n dry , all I had was T cut , did the trick , it's not high speed so the risk catching edges is minimised but took a bit longer to do the job , well worth the money .
