Excellent for Netflix and Plex
Great way of adding smart features with a simple interface to devices that don't have them. I use it for Plex and Netflix. Really easy to use. Roku 3 remote does not need line of sight and so the box can be hidden away. Only downside on the two I have owned the remotes loose their pairing after a while and will not reconnect. Roku rocks
Bought this as a replacement for contract sky TV for my parents. My parents found this easy to use after I had installed it. It is easy and has simple step by step instructions to install and use. I have recently bought one for myself so, when the new series of game of thrones comes back on I can buy 3 months of the now tv app and then stop when it finishes. No tie in contracts and it also has games you can play on it all free of charge. Down side well, I can't get the blink box app on it but, Netflix and you tube do work so it's ok because I can down load films on a usb stick and plug it into the side of the rocku box.I can also use it directly from the computer with a hdmi cable. An excellent bit of kit
The Roku 3 is easy to set up. Connect with an HDMI lead to a Smart TV. Connect to your internet hub or wireless. I use a hub with a wired connection using the mains to make the link from the Router to the Roku 3. Subscribe to the services that you desire e.g. Netflix, Sky. Nowhere TV etc. Do this on your computer. The Roku 3 is easy to use. Once plugged in to an HDMI connection on the Smart TV you will see that you can select the Roku as a separate input device so that it does not conflict with a recorder or cable TV box. Selecting programmes is simple. Hundreds are available. These devices are going to replace the main Cable TV providers. Essentially, you only pay for the service that you want for a limited time. 'NowTV' is available - this is the cheap version of SKY where the contract to watch a package can be limited to a short period. Great little box of delights
If, like me, you stream your TV or Film and have digital files you want to play on your computer then this is the box for you. Works perfectly with PLEX so you can access you own digital files and is seamless with services from NETFLIX and NOWTV. In fact, looking at the latter I mentioned there it's a shame the NOWTV box is so stripped back as it's essentially the same unit, but the Roku 3 is what it should be and the NOWTV box is what it shouldn't be! Oh well. The set up is easy, you have to set up a Roku account, but that is painless. Then it has a simple and easy to use dashboard and a controller that is responsive that has a great addition, that of the headphone jack port...wonderful for when you want to watch and not disturb others. Amazing little thing
The Roku 3 HD is amazing. Nice and compact and since the remote works using WiFi it can easily be put on the back of a TV using heavy duty Velcro. The UI is nice, smooth and concise - your channels are easy to access from the Home Screen. It has a search function as well that filters through every channel in Roku's database to locate what you are looking for.
