    Decent purchase for my needs

The tool was easy to assemble and easy to use. I already own the following Ryobi 18V tools: Hedge trimmer, 1/2 inch drill, and 1/4 inch driver along with three of the 4 amp batteries and one two amp batteries.plus two chargers. I have used it to clean the grass and weeds around the fence line, driveway edges, and the curb edging. The edging is not a easy to use as would the straight shaft model with a wheel. I just could not justify the additional costs of the straight shaft model. This one is much easier and faster than the corded electric string trimmers. The corded electric models would have required me to use 100 feet of cord in the front yard and then move it to the back yard which would be more work and involve more time. I also have some pasture grass that have a seed shoots that spring up overnight almost which I can now use the trimmer to cut as needed. I thought about getting a model that does not use brushes but again, it would cost more but not run the battery down as often. My first time using it, I ran a 4 amp battery down to one bar on the power indicator. A model without brushes would not have consumed as much power. But since I have so many batteries and since I had not been using a trimmer around the edges, it worked out fine with me. It came with .060 string. After I used up the spool of string, I put in .080 twisted wire string which lasts much longer if the string is not hitting concrete nor asphalt. All in all, I am satisfied with the purchase.

    ryobi p2003

Does a decent job cutting grass along driveways, but for thick growths, it struggles. It's light duty, rather than heavy duty. One plus is that it's light weight and easy to maneuver. If I had to do it all over again, I would have done to a heavy-duty model.

  • Nice small trimmer!

Love this trimmer! Very lightweight and super easy to use. I can trim my yard quickly and still have plenty of power left on just one battery! I do still have a gas weed trimmer for bigger jobs but I really don't think I will be using it very much now!

  • Great value

I have a large yard and heavy weeds, this worked perfect. Unfortunately you don’t get much time, 20 mins max, out of an 18v. For a bigger yard check out the 40v series.

  • Requires a star driver for assembly.

This appears to be the previous model to the current 18 Volt Ryobi trimmer. From what I can see the main difference is the handle/casing. This mode is made out of vinyl. The updated model appears to be metal. The problem with the older model I bought is the assembly is a challenge. It used a "star" headed driver to loosen the casing in order to connect the two halves together. Then re-tightened it. At less than half the price of the later model, it's worth this slight hassle.

  • Ryobi weed wacker

Put together and used to trim grass in my 4'x8' trash bin area. Part the ryobi 18v cordless tool line; I used a 3Ah battery to trim entire fence line... 400 feet approximately. Not as powerful as a gas trimmer but more than adequate for light and medium-sized yards.

  • Good for light jobs

I have several of the 18v tools from Ryobi and they all perform great. This weed trimmer is no exception. I Have not had a chance to use the edger but the trimmer works good for typical maintenance around the yard. I like the way the line extends without having to bang it on the ground. The spools can be purchased ready to go on ebay at a reasonably price. I recommend it for the average Joe and the earth is flat.

  • Nice lightweight trimmer

Nice handy little trimmer. I have 3 batteries for it and there is plenty of power to finish my lawn. Nice and light weight. wish it was a longer shaft, but it gets the job done.

  • Lightweight, Easy, slightly underpowered

If you let the string become too long be careful or it may wrap around the axle. Light and good run time with lithium batteries. A little weak around thick plants like ivy, but for regular grass it is fine.
