half baked product but if you can make it work its gratifying
a class compliant USB would accept all usb interfaces. This doesn't. In fact there aren't many things that it works with it. MAKE SURE YOU LOOK AT THEIR WEBSITE BEFORE FOR COMPATIBILITY. It tells you it only works with a controller so not having physical MIDI ports, you would think you'd probably need to get a USB midi interface if you want to make it part of your DAW, right? WRONG, says focusrite. Also the placement of lightning port won't let you use your expensive iPad case. The inclination and the viewing angle means you have to look at it in a downward fashion: instant scoliosis! Really it would only make sense if you use it with an iPad mini. Using a full size iPad without its case and half of it sticking out unprotected makes me sceptic! The converters are good but not great. The worse of all is that the product unfortunately looks like its reaching toward the end of its lifecycle so support for the future is questionable. Gonna give it another chance, try to find a reason to keep it even though everything seems to point me the other way! BTW, this is the first negative review I've ever written...
After finding the right MIDI interface, the right lightning extension cable and the right iPad stand, everything changed! So did my rating for this review. However maybe focusrite should included them in the package and had added real midi ports. Now everything works great, not a bad experience anymore!
