    Great oscillators

    Schmitt triggers make great oscillators with the simple addition of a capacitor and a resistor. These chips contain six Schmitt triggers in a single 16-pin package, making them excellent value in terms of cost and board space. They have a wide frequency range, covering from well below to well above the human hearing range, making them ideal for synthesiser design. Useful tutorials can easily be found on YouTube.
