Handy Unit
I brought this unit to check that the caller-id feature was on my package from PO Broadband/phone, as it had stopped showing on my phone display. It is a neat device and very low cost. Unfortunately for me PO still haven't supplied the feature and worse still their broadband is very very slow. Old Technology from BT
These devices do work and display the incoming number or 'withheld' but they also frequently link to the exchange (every minute or so) to check for messages on 1571. This would be fine but we don't have a contract with BT. Every time they link to the exchange no incoming calls can be recieved. They are so cheap the cost of postage precludes sending them back. Great little gadget
I got this device because I was tired of receiving sales calls 6 or 7 times a day. I personally would never buy anything over the phone and I was tired of getting these calls all the time. Although I told them to stop phoning me, they continued and that is why I ended up buying this gadget. A friend recommended it and it works perfectly. It tells you who is phoning you, so you can always answer the phone when you recognise the number calling you and ignore other numbers. Moreover, the caller can always leave you a message if what they need to tell you is something important and their number is stored in the device. Ever since I got it, nuisance calls have been reduced to around 2 a day and I have been able to monitor who has been calling me and have never missed any important calls. Size ways it is great, because it is so small that fits anywhere and it is very easy to connect; just plug it into your phone line and if your phone line provider has activated your free caller's ID service, it should work straight away. Very good value for money.
This unit does exactly what it says it does, nothing less, nothing more. Works straight out of the box, no set-up other than removing a small piece of tape to connect the batteries. Ok for the Price
Just a pity they are battery operated with no way to switch of once you have pulled the plastic tab from battery compartment. Other people say they are very hard to read but we can see them perfect from a distance and read the display well....Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Simple but works
I have a phone with an awful display - this just sits by the phone and is easy to read to warn me when a call could be junk so I can get my junk caller response anger primed. Needs Caller ID with your phone company. Basic but does the job I need it for.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

THIS DISPLAY IS GOOD KIT - Recommend
This BT Call Display Unit is good quality, nicely finished, cable length 1.7 metres, sits nicely on my desk, shows last number received (including international codes eg: 001xxxxxx from usa), or the word 'Withheld' if the number is unavailable. A red LED will flash if someone has left a 1571 message for you. It does not need a separate power supply, but runs via an internal battery - pull a tab to activate the display, then just plug the unit in-line with your phone, the inline connector has socket outlets for 2 phones. Very useful piece of kit.
Bought this to replace an old one which was no longer working. Because I am already with B.T. I just plugged it in and it set itself up. It shows me the number of the person calling so I am free not to answer if it I don't recognise it. I have an answer machine so if in doubt I let calls go through to that.
