    Good product

Stypit is a great product for light painted / varnish surfaces. works quickly. But I would recommend a more robust product for heavy painted on surfaces

    Does Ok Job

Used this to strip old paint off old iron weight plates. Left on for 45 minutes as instructed. But I was able to wipe paint off with sponge, then let dry a little, then dry scrubbed with steel wool. I found this non conventional method worked better than instructed. Found scraping when went didn't work, but better when wiped dry, maybe depends of paint and surface. I was gladly surprised by how little smell or fumes came from this, so that's a bonus. Also goes a long way for than I expected for size of tin. It's not the strongest so a bit of hard scrubbing is still required if taking off pitted and grained metal.

  • Need to use a lot

I needed to remove thick white paint from an old cast iron door knocker. The remover did eventually work, but didn't have any real effect after the first couple of applications, and needed re-applying several times before the paint broke down. I have had better, more powerful solvents in the past that take the paint of really quickly. But then maybe it's new European regulations that mean we can't buy decent pain stripper and this is as good as it now gets?

  • Rustins Strypit Varnish Remover

Bought this product to take off basic polyurethane varnish on a wooden front door, I followed the instructions for use having used lots of other types of varnish removers in the past. This product is useless, it did not touch the varnish at all, total waste of money, will not be using it again, I bought the Bartoline product a few days later, which worked perfectly Very disappointed with Rustins Thomas Powys

  • wiloswilkks own is better!

To be perfectly honest, this product is nowhere near as good as wilkos own brand! Used a whole can just to strip one layer of varnish off an old oak lamp base. (table lamp). Will stick to wilkos own brand in future.

  • not as useful as I thought it would be

I found that using the varnish stripper was not as good a method as others I have used and there was quite a lot of varnish left on the items even after several applications and I have had to go back to using my original method. I thought using the stripper would make the job far easier but in fact I had more work.

  • not up to task

the actual product was dissopointing, , , i was expecting this product to really loosen up the varnish. ,i made some inroads and after several coats of a relatively small area ,ran out of fluid, . and must say another product i am using far more expencive is not much better. received the item in good time not the supliers fault

  • Rustins Strypit

This product simply does not work, I believe that the essential ingredient has been banned by the EU, and that non of these products are any good, I've e had no trouble with paint/varnish strippers in the past, but having tried this one, I threw away the remaining "Stripper". I am 70 years old, and have spent most of my life in the building trade, also woodworking as a hobby, so I am not without experience.

  • It just didn't work very well. I did eve...

It just didn't work very well. I did everything I was supposed too. I even tried wrapping in cling film so it wouldn't dry up to fast.. Put thick layers on and tried thin. But nope. Probably good if your removing a few layers.

  • Rustins Paint Stripper

Comes out of tin as a gel. Applied it as per instructions but ended up scraping most of the paint of using a rotary wire brush as it only bubbled up in patches.
