Product Information

In 1768 King George III of England orders an expedition to the Pacific Ocean to observe the eclipse of the sun and find the mythical southern continent. James Cook, an unknown petty officer, is controversially appointed as commander, choosing an unlikely collier to carry him and his men into dangerous and uncharted waters. After sailing to Tahiti, where the eclipse proves disappointing, Cook proceeds to chart to coasts of New Zealand and Australia beginning a glorious adventure spanning the oceans of the world.

    Brought back some school memories

    I found it to be rather interesting. I'd seen it in Year 5 at school, but being so long ago, I decided to watch it again and while bringing back some school day memories, it also gave me something different to watch while remembering some actors I hadn't seen in years. Definitely a good buy and worth the money spent I found.

    A superb production in every way. I first saw it on television a very long time ago, and have long wanted to have it on DVD. As a New Zealander my history includes Captain Cook--indeed, I would not exist if he had not done what he did--and all those who owe that debt should have this DVD.
