A true professional machine for those capable of handling such a beast and have a soft spot for photography history
This is the ultimate machine for Canon users still attached to their legacy EF mount lenses. Canon knew very well this will be their last DSLR before moving all their professional cameras to the mirrorless line and they clearly spared no effort or expense in trying to leave a lasting impression. In other words, they left with a bang.
All the complaints people had about Canon AF, dynamic range, low-light performance, etc.. have been addressed leaving very little to complain about. But that won't stop people from complaining anyway. Mine is that in the process of checking every box, the camera is seriously heavy and needs someone with very steady large hands to avoid camera shake if you plan to use it anywhere outside of a studio or mounted on a tripod on the side lines of a football game.
The fact that Canon is offering all the key tech and features from the 1Dx Mark III in the much cheaper and equally competent R6 should give pause to many who are considering the 1D X mark III. Not to mention that the R6 has image stabilization and probably weigh less than half the 1D X mark III. However, if you are interested in owning a piece of photographic history that will continue to function flawlessly for decades (and have the steady hands to carry such a thing), the 1D X mark III is yours to savor
