I just bought a second one.
It is quiet, big and fast. Appearance and quality are fine. My last one was in use for 6 years and it still worked fine but was getting rather furred up. Nice kettle but developed a fault.
A nice looking kettle that is functional but it has, from my experience, a design fault. This is the second one of these kettles I have had & they both started leaking from the same place. There is a stainless tube inside the kettle which passes the steam to the "switch off" mechanism & it passes through a grommet in the element base plate instead of being welded in place and if you don't de-scale the kettle on a regular basis limescale builds up between the stainless tube & the grommet causing it to leak. I contacted Philips but they deem this kettle to be "non- repairable" (like so many modern items) so be warned, keep the kettle de-scaled & it might be ok, I gave up & bought a "similar" but far cheaper kettle which seems to be made better.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

This is the second kettle of exactly the same design we have purchased. So fari it is proving to be just as successful.

Second purchase
Bought this same kettle about 5 years ago and was heavily used, therefore I already knew of the reliability and the quickness to boil. Choice was a no brainer. However the reason for replacement was a leak from the joint between the plastic viewing window and the main body of the kettle. The hard mains water in my region of the UK leaves heavy deposit of lime requiring regular cleaning, and the lime also plays havoc with the removable gauze filter. In this situation it's a good idea to have a replacement filter whilst the other one is de-limed, but I think the replacement filter is expensive for what it is. No problem for soft water areas. I prefer the main body to be matt finish as opposed to polished stainless steel as fingerprints are less visible.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

So good i bought another one
Boils fast, indicator gauge allows boiling one cup only saving electricity. Easy to open lid and fill with only one hand.
