The Citizen Benchmark Tool Watch: the ProMaster Land
I need to stress this: it’s not an expensive watch, but it is a very well made watch, and one that, at 42mm, doesn’t make me vaguely feel like I’ve got an old-timey Buick hubcap on my wrist.
It gives me the complication I actually make frequent use of in real life, and I can actually see the local time at a glance.
It’s not for everyone, sure, but it’s precisely the watch I’ve wanted since forever, and it’s a bargain.
Forget the price point; I’ve got Hamiltons at five times the price that aren’t as precise. Not as in quartz vs. mechanical precise, but in the ridiculously good attention to detail, like the second hand actually hitting the marks dead on. Like a bezel ring that’s both well made and butter-smooth.
Or the unexpected, and delicious, detail that this is actually rated to 20 atm (the screw down crown gives the game away). This isn’t supposed to be a diver, people..
This is Citizen - pushing Seiko down, and taking its lunch money..
I’ve got other Citizens, other makes, but this particular Promaster Land is, hands down, ‘if this was the only watch I’ll ever wear’ winner.
