  • Non-corrosive and long-lasting.

I have used this particular product in several cars over as many years. My main reason is to avoid the paint stripping qualities of glycol based brake fluids. It says not to use it in cars that have anti-lock braking systems which does not worry me as mine are older vehicles. It is nicely packaged with all the information that you need. The plastic bottle pours and seals easily. The fluid is a beautiful light purple so it is easy to see that it is clean and uncontaminated in the master cylinder reservoirs. It is best to put it in new, clean systems, but some I have changed over after replacing calipers and thoroughly draining the master cylinder and pipes without any problems. Its anti-corrosion and long life properties make it ideal for vehicles that are not used regularly. I put DoT 5 silicone brake fluid in a Jeep clutch system almost 30 years ago. It has been unused for decades and worked perfectly when I restored the rest of the vehicle recently. Maybe brake component manufacturers try to discourage the used of DoT 5 because they fear people will need to buy fewer replacement parts?

  • Good for certan purposes but has its drawbacks

It is a good product as it does not absorb water like other brake fluids but does give a slightly more spongy feel to the brake pedal than other brake fluids. the main draw back is that it does not mix with other brake fluid types so the whole system has to be flushed and cleaned with new hydraulic seals before it can be used. it is also less readily available than other fluids and more expensive. plus there is the drawback that if you wish to go back to using other fluids the whole system has to be cleaned out again with all new brake rubbers.

  • Dot 5 Brake fluid

I have used this fluid in ,my pre-war Morris for many years. The advantages are as advertised. The disadvantage is that there is a slightly softer feel to the pedal which can be felt as a problem to some people. It does not alter the efficiency of the brakes and when applied hard I am able to lock the rear wheels. I have no servo assistance and am confident that the brakes are good.

  • This is the only fluid i will use from now

Good quality product Dot 5 fluid, comes in a carton as pictured like apple juice (don't drink it). if you spill it on your paint or fairing, use it to clean and polish the paint as it is silicone it replenishes and protects the rubber seals and as it is very very good at keeping moisture out it also stops your brake calipers from producing Oxides so keeps the brakes working for much much longer. as i replaced my fluid i also replaced all my seals and glad i did the old Dot4 fluid had crystallised and was pushing the seals against the pistons causing brakes to stick and bind. superb quality fluid compared to Dot 4 which should be banned because it takes on water from the air and has to be replaced every 4 years because of that. This is the only fluid i will use from now on because it is much safer less toxic and a nice purple colour.

  • Perfect for classic cars.

This brake fluid is the correct one to use in classic cars. Although not suitable for competition or racing use, as it is more compressible than DOT 4, it has the advantage of not being hygroscopic and doesn't degrade over time, or cause rust on components. I've use this over many years and been pleased with its advantages over DOT 4 fluid.

  • Once and for all

Avoids the intake of moisture in the brake fluid over a period of time, which could damage brake parts. So it then means that with silicone fluid it becomes fit and forget.
