Not good on non porous surface
Hammerite has gone to crap, it used to be really good stuff but over the years they have tried to make it cheaper and for a non porous surface like metal its crap, I needed to paint some raw mild steel, the surface was filed and sanded so perfectly "keyed" and I wiped it down with IPA, the surface was perfect. The Hammerite would not go on evenly, it was all streaky and the bare metal showing more than the paint, I wiped it off using IPA then used an old tin of Rustins small job gloss black and it went on perfectly, I will never buy Hammerite againVerified purchase: YesCondition: New

Hammerrite black smooth paint.
Well this paint is good stuff u can just apply it to frame & paint it on but first before u do this u must rub the old rust of first with a grinder or if u haven't got one use a good quality heavey. IIN THE BLACK
TIN OF BLACK GLOSS HAMMERITE PAINT, I USED THIS ON MY OLD PEUGEOT 106 ON THE DRIVERS FRONT INNER WING AND BUMPER BRACKET. I HAD TO FABRICATE A NEW CORNER BUMPER BRACKET FROM SOME 2MM THICK STEEL PLATE AND WELD ONTO MY INNER WING AS THE OLD BRACKET HAD ROTTED BADLY. THIS PAINT DID A GOOD JOB OF TIDYING MY INNER WING AND PAINTING THE NEW BRACKET WHICH WAS BARE MILD STEEL, I GAVE IT 2 COATS WHICH SEEMED TO BE OKAY. THE ONLY THING WITH IT IS THAT,S QUITE SLOW DRYING BETWEEN COATS AND NEEDS LEAVING TILL NEXT DAY TO BE FULLY DRY, APART FROM THAT THE PAINT WAS GOOD AND DID A TIDY JOB.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New
