Seem to work for me - an inexpensive, cruelty free way to avoid feline fouling.
Pretty good build quality - I'm nervous that the speaker might get damaged in due course but the plastic is rigid, the knobs feel solid and the metal spike is well made and easily removable. Range is great - I had expected it to be a problem, but it switches on at the slightest movement at up to 4 metres. I have four to cover a large gravel drive which has become the cat equivalent of a an ancient roman public toilet - emptying bowels in front of my house has become a local cat attraction. I have concerns about how long the batteries (four AA) will last as it activates several times a day - I never realised how much I walk down my driveway. I can (just) hear the detectors when I set them off but not if I'm not right in front of them. They do seem to work. I have had no cat mess on my drive for two weeks. I did see one cat on the drive but it was obviously unnerved by the strange sounds and did stay for long. I've noticed a lot more birds out front who do not seem to set the devices off and so are unaffected by it. I have no idea if some frequencies work better than others or if they work on any other animals. If the batteries last three months I'd say they were well, well worthwhile. Product seems to work well but could do with more instructions as to it's use.
The product does seem to be working, we have had it installed for a week now and the visiting animal is no longer messing on our property. However, the only instruction as to the frequency of the deterrent is on the website, which is no good if you are given it as a gift and are not on the web. Also, there are no instructions to be found as to what range in meters each little dot on the unit represents. This is very important as I have an open plan front garden and I do not want it to effect the other properties on the close as they all have animals. Fortunately I am able to walk in front of the sensor to gauge the distance, but not everyone can.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Good product but may not deter older "deaf" cats.
A well built, sturdy device! The nine volt rechargeable batteries to run it don't come cheap: two per device. On the evidence, I'm not entirely convinced the product deters "all" cats. A back-up plan may be needed. Like human beings, older cats' hearing deteriorates and this particular model operates at a high ultrasonic level some older cats may not be able to hear. Despite no less than TWO newly installed Pestbye Cat Scarers covering my small front lawn, I discovered a new pile of cat poo the very next day after installation! The evidence was almost about three feet in front of one of the devices. I've now included an older cat scarer (which I know from a free audio analysis app) works at a lower ultrasonic frequency which I had otherwise retired on receipt of the two new Pestbye devices. The lawn has since been cut short, all traces of previous cat poo removed and a generous application of lemon juice applied all over. Apparently, cats hate the smell of citrus and so far this has worked. Yes, it actually works !
This really works. From the first day of use it frightened the cats. After about a week they steered clear of the area in front of it, the furthest point of which is about 3.5metres away. The only negative point is that it is battery operated. I have had it for just over two weeks now, and it is still working fine, but I have yet to see how long the batteries last in practice. I would have been willing to pay a bit extra for a solar powered version. BTW: I have tried similar looking versions of this and they did NOT work. But this most certainly does. I had severe problems with 4-5 cats from...
I had severe problems with 4-5 cats from neighbouring flats invading my garden and patio and use them as their toilet. I tried several methods before. None of them worked. I fixed this device a week ago and also sprinkled very hot chilli powder on their pathways. I have not seen any cat poo in my garden or patio since. So far so good, only had it for about a week and so far no cats seen where it is pointed at/located Only minor points are I found the assembly of vertical pole and back panel for batteries rather fiddly as screws/nuts were very small etc. Maybe a design change might in order? Secondly, on the controls a little more detailed explanation as to settings would have been very helpful. Foxes love it.
Were foxes able to review this product it would receive 5 stars. It makes them feel so comfortable and relaxed they crouch and vacate their bowels on my lawn within 2 feet of this item. Not quite the result I intended. I have followed all the instructions provided and it is functioning. Possibly the best result of its use is in aeration of my lawn.
