Best 18-55 ever, for me.
Having worked with 18-55 kit lenses from Nikon, Canon, Sony and Fujifilm, I rate this lens the best for a number of reasons. Its quality of construction and great damping of rings for just the right resistance and responsiveness immediately impressed me. It's a half-stop faster than the usual f/3.5 wide open, and a full stop faster f/4 at 55mm. Its sharpness rivals 35mm and 50mm prime lenses I've had from Nikon. For an APS-C lens it has pleasant enough, though not great bokeh (slight "onion" effect). The only discouraging thing about this lens is the high cost when purchased separately (still $699 retail). After a few hundred photos on my X-E2S I'm still pleasantly surprised at its results at all focal lengths and apertures. With this lens, I have no need to invest in primes.

Great lens, questionable origin
I received the lens in great condition, packed with care, but when I unwrapped it I found that the serial number had been scratched at to the point of being illegible. This is the only sign of wear/damage on the lens, which leads me to believe it was an intentional alteration done by a previous owner. Kind of sketchy, and now I can’t resell the lens through any reputable store. This is my only issue though

Very nice lens for the price.
Fujifilm 18-55mm 2.8-4 is a very nice kit lens that is much better than other kit lenses of the same focal length that I've used. It's solidly built and from the photos I took of my wife, son and granddaughter they came out sharp with no distortion in the edges like my 16-50mm lens has. It fairly light compared to my 18-135mm lens so it is good as a walking around lens which I intend to take with me at my neice's wedding this coming May so I can take my own pictures. I'm happy I bought this lens.

Excellent lens, excellent value
This lens is very well made and produces excellent images. On a Fuji X-S10 it makes a compact package, light and comfortable to handle. I only wish it were a little longer, but I knew its focal length when I bought it, and I'm very happy with it. It stays on my camera almost full time. For the price and focal range, it's clearly one of the best places to start in the Fuji system, and it has made me eager to get more Fujinon glass.

Great, if you like zooms
This is a better-than-expected zoom lens and I might give it five stars except that I don't really like zooms. Have always preferred to work with a combination of 21mm and 85mm lenses, skipping the "normal" focal lengths in between, but sometimes you have to bow to reality (at birthday parties, graduations, etc.) where friends and family just want normal. I use the 18-55mm on a Fuji X-e3 and must admit that the image-stabilization, which Fuji's fixed-length lenses lack, can come in handy. Autofocus is quick and accurate. Feels a bit heavy on that small camera body but no more so than the fastest prime lenses in the lineup.

Good lens for my X-E2s
This is a great match for the X-E2s. It is a zoom so I can't expect it to be as sharp as a prime, especially the excellent Fuji primes. But I can't afford them nor do I want to put that kind of money into the small-sensor lenses when I can buy used Nikon lenses for full frame, which is my main system. This lens is stabilized which helps offset the slower speed, f/4 at most focal lengths. All in all a good lens with great build and looks great.

Best compact zoom around!!!
18 - 55 mm f/2.8-4 Fujinon glass under 500 usd can't beat that, I've beeing a photograph for the past 30 years, as many global, I've moved to Fujifilm, carefully choosing amongst several brands and gear sizes, this incredible handy zoom is simply amazing, some call it kit lens, to me it was a separate purchase and simply chose it after months of survey and test, it's a wonderful lightweight small sized product with excellent built and image quality, focusing is very good, renders beautiful colors, at an equivalent of 28-80mm aprox. In a 35mm format there is simply no other better quality product of any kind compared to this little gem for its price. One can shot pretty much every situation with it and can be on the camera body at all times without any issues, it's compact, great built, fast focusing, very sharp and covers 28-80mm so landscapes, people, street, gatherings, portraits etc can be beautifully captured with it.. Highly recommended from a guy who's beeing living out of photography for 30 years and decided to go from full frame to a more comfortable and less intrusive experience

I bought this lens twice!
I own the Fuji 16-55mm zoom, which is why I got rid of the first 18-55mm I owned. I'm not a huge fan of variable aperture lenses, but Fuji does make two of the best I have ever used. The 18-55 is one of them. Truthfully, I could have lived without the second copy of this lens but I own the X-T2 (I have or have owned most of the Fuji X cameras) which is a fantastic video camera besides a stills camera. It has no stabilization though, so a friend lent me his 18-55 with the OiS stabilization and I found the 18-55 to be the perfect all around focal length PLUS the Ois feature really made the pictures super smooth! It was like night and day. The 18-55 holds its own in sharpness and IQ. I do like the 16-55 2.8 more for my use. I'm a full time photographer and I just use the 2.8 side often at all focal lengths and the 16-55 is sharper but not by much. For much work not involving a prime lens, the 18-55 would suffice. For travel its way better than the 16-55. Smaller, lighter. I have issues with the lens hoods on both copies but Fuji does a terrible job on lens hoods anyway, sans the extra expensive hoods for the 16mm and 23mm. The 18-55 is a solid lens. If you need a zoom for video with a Fuji camera, there really is no other choice.

If I could only have 1 lens…
Hands down the best value Fuji lens. Sure it’s not as sharp as many of the primes, but having zoom over a diverse range of focal lengths paired with OIS and a 2.8-4 aperture is a bargain for a few hundred dollars. If I could have 1 lens glued on my camera, it’s this one.

I got it three times.
I have had this lens 3 times. The first time I sold it because I wanted a prime and Everybody said that primes are better, so I fell in the trap. So the second time I got it for very cheap, and I decided to give it a try again, and I fell in love with it, this lens is super versatile and very sharp with nice bokeh (for a 2.8-4 zoom lens). The IOS is very good, the construction is very good as well, it doesn’t matter if it’s Japanese or Philippine I have had both and all are equal in every sense. Time passed and life happened and had to sell it again due a personal debt. And I thought I could live without it, I was wrong and once I recovered I bought it again even cheaper than last occasion.This time I’m going to keep it. People that think this is not a good lens it’s because they are comparing it to others expensive lenses, I think is not fair. For what you pay for it used or in kit with a camera, you get an excellent lens for that price. I know the 16-55 2.8 is better in every aspect, but it also costs a lot more and it lacks on what is important for me, Size, the ability to carry this lens everywhere. Judge this lens for what it costs and for what it was designed. This is my favorite lens for the entire fujifilm system (From the ones I have tried). Thank god this is a very common lens and you can find it very easily on the used market. Is it for you?, I don’t know, but you might want to give it a try, and just don’t spect it to behave like a 1.4 prime lens, be logical.
