Effective with one reservation.
It has bee up for about a week and caught 5 grey squirrels already, so it is effective. I have placed smears of peanut butter below the trap and set up a trail cam. The squirrels usually take the peanut butter several times before they do one investigation too far! The only problem so far has been for one squirrel to push past the trigger needle and so to empty the carbon dioxide cylinder. This needs checking at each catch.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Boom!!
Constant hassle with grey Squirrels destroying bird feeders so researched this item and went for it. Thought it was expensive,but it has been up in the garden for 12 days and has already dispatched 6 of the pesky critters. It was supplied with chocolate bait which i have not used, i put some Peanut butter in the bait holder and a little smear in the entrance to the kill chamber and BOOM!! just put the body out for the fox in the field behind and jobs a good un.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Worth the investment.
Had a family of 5 squirrels in the loft that despite some attempts at encouraging them to leave refused to do so. Reluctantly purchased the trap and after one particularly loud morning up in the loft had no choice but to install the trap. It's very easy to install and was up within 10 minutes after I fixed the bracket to a spare piece of wood which I then screwed to a couple of loft beams. A small amount of the supplied bait was put in the top and a few smears around below the trap. The next morning within the space of about 2 and a half hours the trap despatched 3 of the baby squirrels. The adult seemed to leave during the day and come back in the evening to find 3 out of 4 of the babies missing. The next morning the adult and remaining baby left and haven't been seen since. After checking 24 hours later of no further presence the broken roof tile has been replaced to keep any return or from stopping birds moving in. It seems a lot of money, but considering the trap cost little over half of what it would have cost to call someone in I consider it good value. The only one slight negative. The first trigger didn't register on the counter as can be seen in the picture. It should read 3 but only shows 2, it's not a big issue though as the trap was in a confined space so I obviously knew how many had been trapped. The despatched squirrels have been put out and taken by foxes.

A great tool for the job.... Really effective!
Really effective trap, within 5 days has worked 9 times. We had terrible issues with squirrels gnawing through lead flashing on our roof, caused damage only 6 months after replacement at a cost of £3,500 with rain pouring through.... so something had to be done I'm afraid! They were also damaging potted plants and digging holes in the grass; less of an issue I suppose as only natural for them to forage but still annoying... Although pricey, cheaper than hiring someone to come a deal with the critters and you can deploy if/as/when they return! Just make sure well out of reach of little ones - wouldn't want them to stick their hand in to see what happens... We also purchased the guard (not pictured) as they had tried to chew through the bait cap. Worth thinking about but again not cheap. It may be cheaper to just replace the cap as and when they managed to chew though.
