This is the second time we've purchased this very same top-rated #1 ink-jet by Consumer Reports Brother ink-jet. Need I say any more? Just buy this printer and set it up. One very important caution: Be absolutely sure to change each and every ink cartridge *before* it completely runs out of ink! Letting one or more of them do so will lead to premature print head failure The enemy is air getting into the head, leading to its failure. *Do this each and every time and you'll extend the life of this printer.* The head is much, much too expensive to replace after it fails. So far so good
Buying a printer is difficult because everybody seems to hate every printer. I dreaded the set-up experience- but it was easy- instructions on the small screen walked me right through. I did have the ideal situation with a Mac on wifi. The printer and computer connected right up- and I even am able to scan wirelessly- a success never before achieved. (Windows requires a software download- which may or may not be a fresh hell.) After a few weeks so far all good. Print quality is fine. Ink prices seem cheaper than my deceased Canon. Only glitch is that scans won't appear on desktop, even when that destination selected. I don't know where they go, and I have to remember what number scan I'm up to and do a spotlight search.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Easy and Efficient
There are many online videos relating to setting up and using the printer. Follow directions and set-up and printing will be easy. My printing habits vary, but normally I do not print a lot on a daily basis. Great "Start Here" setup has you printing quickly. Like double-sided scan/print. Consumer Reports "Best Buy!" for initial and long term inkjet useage cost. Not a thing I would change. Brother MFC-J 895 DW
I am not technologically savvy, and was able to set this printer up on the first try. You don't need a disc and my Mac recognized it and was able to print to it without downloading any software. Printer responds immediately, prints well, and is fast. I had an older Brother printer before this one, and this one is light years ahead of the older model. Great printer. Better price.
Had a problem getting the airprint printer function to work. Also duplex printing was also unavailable. After a couple of days I found printer reset setting buried in settings menu. I did a reset of printer and all functions returned. All is well now and unit is working great. I still cannot find the page count function in menu area. Anyone have a solution? Decent All In One printer.
Decent All In One printer. Brother software for printing and scanning was downloaded for my MAC works well: iPrint&Scan Push Scan Tool. Only disappointment is that scans can be made only from the flatbed and not from the document feeder tray. (That means manual page by page placement of documents to scan multiple pages).
