Great can opener, but does have a drawback.
This is not my first can opener of this brand and kind. When it is new it works great. Cuts through the edge of a can like butter. What I like is besides not having any sharp edges is that you can replace the lid and it will actually seal the can for things you don't use up in one day. I took a star off because like everything else it will wear out and then it's a struggle to use it. The wheel will slip, it won't cut the first time and you have to go one or two more times around the can. While I do always replace it, I do not like the fact that this can opener has massive plastic handles that then end up in the landfill, because it is not recyclable (as far as I know). It would be nice if the company offered to refurbish, because it would just be a matter of replacing the little gripping wheel and the cutter part.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Look elsewhere
Difficult to use because of its non-standard design, and only seems to work on thin steel cans. Couldn't get through large can of tomato juice, for instance, but ok on small tin of soup. Great for Arthritis sufferers!
Works GREAT! I LOVE It!! Even with my arthritic hand and wrist, it turns real easy! I've had several others, but this one so far is the best! Expensive but I wanted good quality and safety above all else, OXO is all of that
This new one replaced my old OXO I've had for around 20 years and it opened cans and left no sharp edges on either lid or can and lasted almost 2 decades. Shoot, I've got grandkids that have never used an old school can opener because of my fantastic OXO! Do I think my new one will live up to that kind of quality? No, of course not and knew that when I ordered it but if it was half as good as my old one, then it would be great! Needless to say, I've already nicked myself slightly on the tiniest metal shaving on an opened edge and it was NOTHING compared to what could have happened with the Dollar Store can opener I had to buy and use while waiting for my new OXO. For at least a week I was terrified I'd forget that can lids are as sharp and deadly as ninja stars and I'd end up slitting my wrists cooking dinner. Requires less effort to turn the knob!
This has a gear drive right angle knob that makes it require less torque to turn the knob. We are in our 60s and that matters a lot. We had a Pampered Chef for year and it worked well also but this is a cut above. You won't be disappointed!!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Intelligent design
The best can opener I have ever used. The design is intelligent, it opens the lid without damage or sharp edges. It doesn't get dirty from the contents of the can like normal can openers. Give the product a good rating. Basically works as advertised.
Left out the value and quality answers as only time will tell. What I disliked was the lack of any instructions that was shipped with the product. I only open a few cans a week so learning curve was hard plus how to take the top off after cutting into the can? Was afraid of cutting my self so I use a pair of pliers to remove the top.
