Inherited a 1/2 case of this stuff in glass bottles when my grandfather died. Current product is not the same and has artificial oder
the 1/2 case of glass bottles with lead caps I inherited from my grandfather was a superior product. current production is not the same after use it leaves a slight petrochemical smell and it is more watery than older production was. While I still get raves from women I dance with, the fragrance doesn't last for several days like the stuff I inherited. still better than anything made in America that you can buy at a drug store. Not what it once was...
Something has changed in the pinaud bay rum formula. It no longer has any hint of bay leaves or cloves in its aroma. It just has a strong chemical smell. Maybe this has something to do with the hurricanes in the islands that have destroyed bay leaf trees, but this product is no longer what it once was. Smell like the islands, even in a land-locked State
I bought a different brand of bay rum cologne a while back and it just wasn't as good as Clubman Pinaud, which is the first brand I ever became aware of, in a barber shop years back. The scent and color are rich and pleasant, and better yet, a little on your face, on your neck, or in your hair goes a long way. Spicy, exotic, and invigorating. Clubman Bay Rum
The more I use this aftershave the more I like it. I do wish the scent lingered a bit longer but I do perspire more than most men at work, and this it could be that in an air conditioned environment it would leave a mild scent for a long time. But the smell is very different than all my other aftershaves and it is a nice change of pace. I often splash it on like a toner after my evening shower and wear it to bed, and my wife loves it when I do. I recommend you try it and see if it does well for you. Worst case you can give it to another if you don’t like it and it’s price is very reasonable. Why it does and does not work...
Purchased this in hopes of enjoying the memories of my youth at the barber shop with my granddad. The scent is close, but not quite the same as the Avon Bay Rum decanter which I have had since 1967. I read reviews about the scent not remaining long, but found it to be comparable to other men's colognes/aftershaves. What it lacks in authentic smell it more than makes up for in quantity. The only real disappointment with this product is the cheap plastic container in which it arrived. Did I mention how cheap the plastic feel is in comparison to the days of glass? A little Spicy
I cut hair at a Fire Station. Mainly fades and tapers, but a few go to skin. I was looking for some skin toner to slap'em with after the straight razor. I'm not sure what I was expecting as far as scent, I guess I was thinking more like an "Old Spice" smell. It's not bad. My 17 year old daughter says it's a very festive, fall like, spice smell. Subtle, Traditional Scent
Pinaud is an established maker and Bay Rum is a traditional, masculine scent. Their version of Bay Rum doesn't maintain its scent for an extended time, but for the price, it's quite acceptable. Clubman Bay Rum
I love this stuff. It’s got enough sting to make sure no cuts get infected. It’s cheap enough to use every day. It takes care of many rashes. But the best thing is IT SMELLS GREAT. It’s pretty strong for a couple minutes then tones down to a very light and very nice scent. I always get compliments whenever someone is close enough to notice it. And that would be pretty close. Many have asked what it is and it’s a low enough price that I usually get them a bottle.
