Good quality modular build.
Illumination is done using a small incandescent bulb which is a future failure point. The switch module with bulb is removable and the contacts are self cleaning by their action. I removed the incandescent bulb and replaced it with a small blue LED and added a 1K subminiature series resistor to limit current. I have added a photo showing the rear of the switch assembly showing how one can convert it to LED illumination and compare the LED size with the original bulb. Addendum LED with just a resistor in series and nothing else will fail almost immediately (it did) due to back EMF from the bells solenoid an additional normally reverse biased snubber diode will have to be added in parallel with the LED and resistor to protect the LED. This explains why they use a simple incandescent bulb ... only one component required instead of 3!

A great little 8v bell push. We recently replaced our doorbell and and had to alter the voltage of the transformer for it . This is a well constructed illuminated doorbell push. This is by far better than another popular brand that uses small bulbs that blow after 24 hours. The illumination is warm white and is very effective. Cost slightly more, but well worth the extra. The quality is far superior to the cheaper item it replaced, which fell apart after a few months. This one looks built to last. The only negative I can think of is that it would be a nice touch to have knock-out notches for the cable feed, but that is a very minor problem.
