Nice New Radio in a Small Package

I like this radio. It is small and compact It offers great sound quality in a small package. My only dislike was the fact I had to buy a new battery system in 12V. I have a lot of Makita tools in the24V system. I didn't realize that I could not utilize my 24V batteries to operate this radio. Makita should of took this into consideration and designed the radio for the 24V system.

  • Most critical review

Makita MR051 is superior to the Makita RM02, but neither model is made anymore.

I tested the same weak AM signal on 2 different model Makita mini-radios, this model on a fully charged battery did not go as loud on a weak station that when set at the same volume level, the older model MR051 went much louder, but that's on a weak AM signal, on a local FM signal, the volume is a bit closer, but that one difference is enough for me to recommend the no longer made Makita MR051 over the RM02 model. Better yet, just about any BT job site radio in the same price range as the RM02 is likely to be better and you might be able to use the batteries for more than just to power a stand alone radio and no current power tools like the 12 volt system the RM02 uses.

  • Good Radio

The radio is great!, the speaker and antenna range is pretty good as well. Only issue that it runs on 12V batteries, you need to separately purchase the battery and charger. i recommend getting the 4.0Ah battery since the radio will last longer time in between charges. normally 3-4 days, and i use mine everyday at work.

  • A perfect job site radio

I really love this radio great job site radio. Small enough to fit in my tool back. The built in hook is perfect for Keeping the radio safe and out of the way. The 12 volt batter last for two three days on a single charge. A great addition to my tools.
