This has no impact on the optics or function of the lens other than the electronic stabilisation. Great condition. Lens is optically great with very minor dust and minimal marks, which will of course not affect the image in any way.

  • Nikon lens

Very good lens. Great optics. Has a cheap plastic feel to lens barrel but helps to make the lens lighter . Great for carrying about. Sharp even at 300 mm range. This is where some lenses loose image quality. If you read ken rockwell s review. He gives this lens a great write up. Thats the main reason i bought this lens.

  • Useful lens

This is a decent upgrade to the third party optic I was using. It has quiet, snappy focus and is reasonably compact and light with pleasant handling.

  • A real 70-300mm

After having a Tamron 70-300mm for the last year or so, I decided to take the plunge and upgrade to the Nikkor glass (on a D5100). Best move I've made with the camera so far, and well worth the extra £400 new value. First thing you notice if you have a comparative 'budget' lens is the massive weight difference. Now obviously, that's not exactly a plus factor in terms of ergonomic use, but my goodness, it makes you realise how much better quality the Nikkor glass is. Overall, I've noted a marked improvement throughout the zoom range, and it performs especially well around the 180-250mm mark, and in the middle of the aperture range, as you'd exepect from most zoom lenses. Tack sharp throughout though, even with my shaky hands :-) A highly recommended upgrade to anyone on the fence.

  • Nikon Zoom-NIKKOR 70-300 mm F/4.5-5.6 VR ED IF AF-S G

I have wanted to get a telephoto lens for my Nikon D5200 for some time now. Went back and forth between this and the Tamron equivalent. Most reviews online stated that they were both quite similar in quality. The big difference was in price when comparing them new. I finally decided on the Nikon used and the price difference was quite small. My main concern was compatibility in the future. I have only had the lens for a couple of weeks now but I have been very impressed. The build quality is excellent and the images are razor sharp, even at 300 mm. I could not be happier. Great value! The lens was in perfect condition.

  • Brilliant and easy to use

This is my first DSLA camera and the lense is easy to use and not to heavy like some of the reviews say I managed quite well on my first outing at the zoo taking some great shots

  • Outstanding lens.

Dear reader, there are many, many reviews of this lens on line. Believe all you read its excellent. My only advice is if your buying used, spend a little more and buy from a seller with top line feedback or that accepts returns. This is a delicate item and needs to have been inspected and looked after prior to sale. Luckily I got a good one.

  • Great Lens

This is a great lens and produces sharp images. It is very quiet. It's quite heavy so the VR function may well prove useful. I've been experimenting with the M/AF setting and haven't found it works very well so I still switch to Manual when I need to focus on something in trees etc. But that may be user error rather than the lens.

  • Bought as I missed a shot whilst out walking

Was out walking and was fed up walking with my Sigma 150-500 beast so, stowed that away and missed a great shot of a squirrel outstretched along a branch leading down into a river having a drink! Only had a wide angle on the camera. Got this so it's easier to walk around with. Haven't fully tested it yet but early indication look a little softer than I'd like but that could be my D300s being exposed for it's shortcomings. We'll see though I might start looking for a full frame Nikon soon
