  • Natural sounding headphones perfect for close microphone and broadcast use

I own quite a variety of Beyer headphones and some microphones and find them on the whole very neutral sounding which is very important to me. I already own a pair of DT770 pro 400 ohm enclosed headphone, the ones with the vinyl earcups. I was interested in these because they are 80 ohm so smaller devices have a better chance of driving them (phone / tablets). The DT770 is my preferred headphone for broadcast use (over the DT150 /250) and the 990's are far too open at the volume I use. The 880s are also semi open so similarly have feedback issues with live microphones. These are relatively lightweight. Full earcup and ear enclosure does mean they are on the heavier side as headphones. They have a ported design which is quite discrete but allows very deep bass and clear highs. The sound isolation (leakage) is a lot better than I thought it would be for velvet type ear cushions so suitable for close mike use. sterero sound stage (for headphones) is excellent. A non-detachable straight lead with a screwed 6.35 to 3.5 adapter. Overall I was very surprised that the 80 ohm units provide the natural sound I've come to expect from Beyer as I have found the lower impedance 990's have some marginal colouration versus the old original high impedance 990's. One further note. These are NOT beats so do not expect an artificially boosted bass!

  • Very Comfortable I Love them

I have used closed back headphones for decades and personally love the shut yourself off to the world situation, stand up all husbands and wife’s he!he! Rabbit Rabbit you got more rabbit then Sainsbury’s simply get yourself a pair and listen to music he!he! Ok I got these 770 80ohms and right out the box they are nice sounding I notice the rich highs and low bass with the upfront mids , I listen to a lot of electronic style music which in all fairness is me nearly all my life and these are perfect for that they are comfortable for hours and hours of use but obviously if you new to closed back headphones they may take you a bit of time to get used to them, I wouldn’t call the 80ohms transparent sound the example for studio work but I never intended these to be studio headphones I was intrigued on what they was like and with a few sales recently I got some and I’m glad I did because I’m actually thinking on getting the 770 250ohm version to try out in due course for my studio headphone collection I already have

  • So far, so great

No expert but they are the best headphones I've bought. Fairly expensive but not ridiculous and, as with most things, you get better quality the more money you spend. Quality recordings come to life and I'm hearing things on cd's that I've owned for years that I have missed before. Seem soldly made and, if you look after them, should last for years. For the price paid, very happy.

  • Can’t go wrong

You can’t go wrong with Bayerdynamic, just check specifically what each headphone is designed for as the soundscape of each model is tailored to its intended use. Eg. Gaming, open back for mixing, closed back for recording etc
