Separation
The finish was good although there were some rough spots on the neck. The was a small separation of the body between the top and the bottom. However it was easily fixed with some superglue. The keys worked fine, but the strings were really old. Just a slight bow in the neck that was easily adjusted. The guitar sounds great.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Always out of tune
Wow, I guess eBay wants to be like Amazon now with their reviews. This guitar I bought used, so I don't know how good a review of a used item is, but here goes. I got the guitar and the tuners were broken. I bought some new tuners and the tuners don't seem to fit in the holes so maybe that is the way it's always out of tune. I put on new strings and for two weeks now the guitar is always far out of tune every time I pick it up. I have to tune it every time I play it. Anyway, other than that it's action is pretty good, and I love Ovation guitars, this is my third one. So, I wouldn't say Ovations are bad, I just think I got a defective one, maybe a B stock, or one they threw away and someone got it out of the dumpster? Other than not holding a tune I like it, and a new one would probably be great!Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

My Thoughts on My Ovation Celebrity 49S VA
Ihave owned several Ovation guitars in the past including a 1995 collectors edition and a 1997 colectors editon, a Korean made 12 string and a custom Eliter USA made 12 string. All of them had great action including the cheaper ones. I've owned Gibson, Guild, and presently have a Martin 6 and 12 string. But some how I always keep my hands on an Ovation. This is the first Celebrity I've owned. It's a great guitar. bought from ebay for a reasonable price. The guitar is in mint condition, the only thing needed is anew set of strings. Even with the "dead" strings on it now, it sounds great when plugged into my Fender amp.
