Nuts......
The love of my life guitar, for the 2nd time in 35 years gave up its 'NUT' and it was very easy to find a replacement on Ebay. I ordered one (very cheap) to fit a Strat, but I had to 'shave' it down many times to fit my particular Baby. I didn't want to damage my Rose wood fret board, so took about 2 weeks to gently persuade the new entry to fit. Its still not a perfect fit, but works. Love your guitar and it will love you and be prepared to introduce any new parts that need fixing with humility and understanding. No alternative when your Nut goes..... Well let me start with the "pros". It is a bone nut. Thats about it. Now for the cons, the nut slots were not cut perpandicular to the length of the nut. This causes all sort of problems like tuning issues and weird string tention. This unfortunately makes it unrepairable, even if you have a set of nut files. Also a second issue is that the slots weren't cut at an angle so the string didn't have a specific breakpoint off the string. This makes the guitar sound like a sitar.
