    Bravo TC Helicon VoiceLive 3!

Powerful. Great sounds for guitar and vocals. Haven't even tried the looper yet, but looking forward to it! Can be as easy to use as browsing the very useable presets but has the capability to tweak the most minute parameters and customize in mind-bending ways! Road-worthy build quality. Support seems top notch. Numerous and useful firmware updates. There are tons of practical and entertaining operational videos posted to YouTube quite often. Highly recommended!

Great product, but should have been cheeper because of a fault

I was not told about the following problem before buying the product. Once I contacted them (PitBull) after I'd received it they told to contact TC Helicon directly and would not stand behind their product. 'I'm having an issue with my Voicelive 3 that when I record a loop it plays back with a terrible 'staticky' sound on the track. I've only just purchased it and this is the first few times using it. I've updated the firmware and checked/changed all cables etc.. But to no avail.' It's now going to cost me $200 to have fixed. This is poor after-sales follow up from the seller. Very Average!!!

  • Makes my VoiceLive Play GTX obsolete

I unplugged my GTX and plugged in my VL3 and, after getting through the learning curve, will never look back. The harmonies are more natural sounding, and the control I have over all aspects of the sound this will reproduce makes it my go to processor. Yeah, I had to listen to videos in order to more readily understand how to make adjustments and what I need to do to steer this monster, but after that, it's really not that bad. Still can't change direction easily in the middle of a gig, but that's OK if I plan properly beforehand. Haven't done much with the looper yet as I don't need that feature with what I do, but the ability to mix vocal effects, add various harmonies, etc is superb.

  • Everything

I have or have had the line 6 jm4, the Boss rc300, and previous TC helicons. Non are instant using all of the functions. Line 6 is the easiest to start with but lacks quality recordings and is limited on voice. The Boss has the quality, but no voice and very difficult to use. The Voice live 3 is excellent. The directions need to be improved and I wish I could name the loops. All of the quality is there and I have been able to replace some of my effects because it has so many options. So far, the best unit I have ever used.

  • Very nice harmonies and decent guitar effects.

I'm still learning how to use this pedal as it's fairly complex and comes with a boat load of presets, almost too many. The quality of the harmonies is really quite amazing. The guitar effects are very good. If I was to make any recommendations, it would be that the pedal should have two volume controls that are easily and quickly adjusted, one for the microphone and one for the guitar (or other instrument). These could be buttons or pedals. The volumes of these parameters in the presets vary from preset to preset so when switching rapidly form one to another, I find there are volume issues that are quirky.

  • For the SERIOUS musician! Amazing advanced features

I LOVE this product (just purchased this as a second one so I have a backup), and depend on it to do the material I want to do which requires sophisticated harmony and effects settings. I am doing songs I never would have dreamed of doing (solo or with my percussionist) without this item and I am hearing from audiences that they LOVE my song choices. My disclaimer is that I'm not afraid of tech stuff and am very persistent when learning to use a new tool. This is a serious piece of equipment with tremendous power that takes some time to really utilize to its fullest. I am making high use of vocal and guitar effects and the customizable harmony settings, with both guitar AND keyboard, and after almost a year I still feel like I learn something new every day that is important and I wish I'd known sooner. And I have not even touched the high-powered looper functions (don't use looping...yet). All that said - for a acoustic guitarist who wants some basic effects (guitar and vocal) and wants to mess around with basic harmony structures (works fine for some songs), I recommend the HC Helicon Play Acoustic instead (which I also own). But if you want some real finesse to your songs and are patient and maybe a bit geeky, and have some good knowledge of music theory for tweaking harmonies, and especially if you play both guitar and keyboard, I HIGHLY recommend this. It will expand your musical horizons beyond belief!!!

  • Its complicated

Wonderful machine, very deep, big learning curve, firmware is always being updated (a very very good thing! ) I'm new to it, lots to learn, absolutely worth it. BTW the above question "does it produce consistent results" should read CAN it produce consistent results 'cause you won't get them right out of the box unless you are a genius. Re gain staging, just remember everything is connected to everything so forget about a normal gain structure, just keep blundering around. Getting levels right and understanding why the are better (or not) is ridiculously arbitrary. Hang in there.

  • A little intense to learn due to the awesome control you have over all the parameters but worth it.

This processor does all it says and sounds great once you get it tweaked in. Wish it had more open user slots. I intend to use it for my acoustic and electric guitars and need to have it ready and simple on stage so I can concentrate more on entertaining than techno stuff. I'm real happy I sprung for it now $$$$. These guys got it going on man!

  • Very impressed!!!!

What a great deal on the pedal to end all pedals. It does take a lot more effort than a simple stomp box to get the hang of, but that effort is richly rewarded with the best effects on the planet. Ok, I'm getting carried away. But I do love this box. My singing isn't the best by any means. But this pedal certainly helps in ways no other could. As for the guitar portion, it is simply brilliant. Very deep editing is available if you dare to go there. Frankly I only mixed up the drive and volume settings and I"m good with what TC Helicon programmed in the box. The effects are world class reverbs, delays, chorus/modulation... Lush! Built like a tank. And laid out in the best possible fashion. Scientists were surely involved in the building of it, but musicians were in charge of design. For the advanced guitarist it will quickly become very intuitive. What seems daunting to master will become second nature soon. Even if you're not advanced, there is so much fun and joy in messing with the dozens of factory presets that you will never grow tired of playing it. Add in the incredible looper and nothing on the market can touch it. This is no ordinary looper. I encourage you to go to TC Helicon's website and to Youtube and enjoy the videos of what it is and what it does. It's still a bargain at 3 times it's price.

  • Incredible product

I bought this as an upgrade to my VoiceLive Play. I wanted an expression pedal for vocal effects, and they Play can't do that. What I got was a full-fledged vocal processor with all the effects I could desire, and with a tonne of extra features, including ducking, delay-in-to-reverb, and guitar effects that eliminate my need for a bank of pedals. I can even sell a guitar because of its awesome octave changer! I primarily play Bass VI, but I have a practice guitar. Now I don't even need that. Unlike with most multi-effect processors, I can turn the individual delays and choruses off with stomp pedals. It's an incredibly well thought out interface. My one complaint is that the 85 vocal patches I have on the Play don't port over, even though the interface with the computer is the same. As soon as I manually fix that, I will trade my play for an expression pedal and be even happier with this unit.
