Works Well as a Popular Bluing Product Used by Many
Using this for touch-ups; not doing anything over a whole gun. For this application it works as expected. Follow the directions, finish with steel wool (0000) to blend in the bluing, wipe off with a damp cloth and it will provide a deep black/blue coating. Each coating provides a little more deep coloring with diminishing darkening aspects. I suggest heating the metal with a torch or hair dryer to improve the take of the bluing. I have no idea how it will last as I have not had time to determine this. What I have found is that you might need different bluing products from several manufacturers to get all your work done on different parts of the gun or on different guns as the metals are different. Some bluing products work well and some do not work as well. Sorry to report, but in many ways it can come down to experimentation. Many Others Tried, but this stuff is THE BEST!
Like the title sez, tried many other brands thru the years (all of which had "After Rust"), but Oxpho Blue is the best cold blue out there with no after rust. Even works a bit better if U heat the part U are cold bluing. Myself, I use a small plastic lipped dish with some Oxpho blue in it. I sink the part for a few minutes & remove the part. Then wipe with a oiled rag. If the finish looks good, I then coat the part with any oil that will light on fire (Like WD40) & seal the finish! Works Great!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Best cold blue I've ever used
I have been using cold blue for over 20yrs. I have tried over 10 different types. This stuff is by far the best I have ever used. After 3 or 4 coats, it gave the best bluing I have ever seen. Cold Bluing with Oxpho-Blue
Oxpho-Blue is an easy to use cold bluing. The only negative thing is you will have a hard time with it going by the directions on the label. But if you will take a blow dryer and heat the part up a little bit it works amazingly. I tried it going by the directions and I couldn't get it to do very much. I went to You Tube and done a search on using it and found out about using a blow dryer or heat gun. I then used my blow dryer and heated the barrel up for about 15-20 seconds and it blued the metal as soon as I put it on. Just do it in straight strokes and repeat as many times as you need to get your desired result.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Beats the others, hands down.

I would recommend this product for beginners as well as seasoned veterans.
I have used the liquid Oxpho-Blue for years and i really like it, this the first time I have tried the Jell. I was very pleased, it seems to take less to get the same results and the jell stays put.
