Martin Artist DCPA4 Acoustic/Electric Guitar

About this product

Product Information

Enjoy colorful tone and crystal-clear sound on the stage or in the studio. The Martin Performing Artist DCPA4 acoustic-electric guitar is a high quality instrument that offers rich audio for any kind of acoustic performance. The electronic components in this acoustic guitar let you plug it in to an amplifier, so you can turn up the volume without miking your instrument. The Martin Performing Artist DCPA4 features a cutaway dreadnought design. The size and shape of the body offer plenty of space for rich sound resonance, and the cutaway design lends a bit of additional brightness to the guitar’s tone. It also offers easy access to the higher frets on the fingerboard, which is helpful for musicians who like to play along the entire neck. The neck itself has a slim profile, which offers additional accessibility. You can attach straps onto the two strap buttons to comfortably play the instrument while you are standing. The Martin Performing Artist DCPA4 guitar offers lots of rich acoustic sound, but you can also plug it in to experiment with your tone. Adjust the pickups and amplifier settings to create warmer or brighter tones or to add a bit of distortion to your acoustic playing. You can also plug acoustic-electric guitars into accessories, such as effects pedals and processors, to further alter the sound or to experiment with techniques such as looping or tremolo. The integrated Fishman F1 Analog pickups offer lots of sensitivity, so you can be sure that the details and nuances of your playing will come through your amp. The electronics offer anti-feedback technology, so you can keep feedback at bay when you want a clean sound. The electronics are battery-powered and offer up to 200 hours of battery life. This Performing Artist series acoustic guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top and solid African sapele sides and back, which offers a similar tone to mahogany. The headplate consists of East Indian rosewood, which is strong and beautiful to look at. The fingerboard and bridge are made of Richlite, which is an environmentally friendly, high quality composite material. All woods and other materials in the guitar are sustainably sourced. The Martin DCPA4 is compatible with steel strings. Ideally, you should use light gauge strings. You can use Martin strings, such as the 92/8 Phosphor Bronze strings, or you can choose another guitar string brand. Avoid using nylon strings or other materials that are not compatible with dreadnought acoustic guitars. Large knobs make it easy to tune the strings and add new strings to the guitar. The integrated tuner in the electronic components help you achieve perfect pitches in mere minutes. Martin launched the Performing Artist series in 2010, blending its classic acoustic bodies with high-end modern electronics. You may find Martin DCPA4 guitars on their own or bundled with accessories. Common accessories include hard cases, gig bags, and straps. Bundled items are usually listed in item descriptions, and you can find guitars and bundled items to suit a variety of budget levels.

  • High quality guitar crafted in America

If it’s built by Martin, you can be pretty sure that it’s going to be a quality instrument. Especially if it’s built in America like the DCPA4 is. The neck came from the factory straight as an arrow, and being that the fingerboard is made of Richlite rather than ebony, I don’t have to worry about oiling it or it warping and expanding and contracting as the seasons change. Best part is, Richlite actually sounds better! The Sitka spruce top is absolutely stunning and the Sapele back and sides are very smooth and sleek looking. I believe the neck is mahogany, but regardless it plays fast and actually feels very similar to the size of an electric guitar neck. The highs are bright and chimey and the mids are present and clear, as is the bass. Although Taylor makes a stellar guitar, I’ve always preferred the sound of Martin as they always seem fuller and not quite as thin to me although perhaps that’s just a matter of opinion. The pick up inside the guitar sounds surprisingly rich whether plugged in to an amp, P.A. Or DAW. the controls are inside of the sound hole and very easy to access. My only gripe is that the particular model DCPA4 that I own does not have a built-in tuner but that isn’t a huge deal considering how high quality of a guitar this is for such a relatively reasonable price. It came with a very solid and sturdy feeling hard shell case with a small compartment and a plush, dark green interior. This is an absolutely beautiful, American made, high quality, professional grade instrument that I am looking forward to passing down as an heirloom for generations to come.

I love this guitar ! Everyone sits up and takes notice when I play it in the church choir. It's a true Martin. The electronics work well which is necessary for me to compete with the organ.
