Dapol 20 ton Guards Van Kit
Considering that the tooling of this kit is now considered to be a little tired, the component parts required very little cleaning up and the parts fitted together without any major problems. The metal wheels and the tension lock couplings were an advantage over a previous kit I made up, a Low Fit wagon, However the couplings proved to be too high when fitted as the instructions suggested. I decided to use Hornby NEM couplings instead. The Guards Van runs well although being a long wheel base vehicle it doesn't negotiate set track points very easily.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Pleasantly surprised by the level of detail in the model, better still metal wheels included and choice of couplings. Went together easily.Some flash to clean off and lack of glazing are the only negatives. Even though this kit is produced from "old" tooling, there is very little flash to worry about and the kit goes together well. just one thing though, the instructions could do with a re-write and the illustration more explanatory. Brake van from hell....
The Dapol 20t Brake van needs so much work. The handrails are moulded, these have to be removed and the planks re-scored. The roof vents and chimney are in the wrong places, a fine scalpel is needed to remove them prior to repositioning.
