Reliable workhorse with one small flaw
The hub works reliably and is a good workhorse with a wide gear range similar to the classic three-speeds. The addition of a coaster brake is a nice touch and should give long-term low-maintenance service when loaded up with a semi-fluid grease containing anti-corrosive additives. However, when used with the 3/32" sprockets usually recommended by Shimano, the slight rocking of the sprocket caused by backpedalling with sufficient force to brake firmly seems able to dent the driver lugs and thereafter the sprocket will slip very slightly each time you switch between brake and drive or the opposite. It doesn't seem to be a serious performance problem, but does feel a bit strange. I wonder if it could be avoided if you use the 1/8" sprockets recommended by other hub gear manufacturers.
