Easy to use Easy to use
I have black metal wall art in the garden that over the years has started rusting and generally look shabby. Decided to try and save it with hammerite direct to rust aerosol spray paint. All Name No Finish!
This is the second time I have used this, co called, premium branded paint product, and quite frankly its awful and so was the garage door paint, some months back. Now I come to think of it, I also used the paint this brand made its name for, which is the simple hammered finish for outside metal, some years back, and that was poor! This aerosol can, every time I attempted to spray a gentle coat, would at some point spatter, and thus ruin the finish. And as per many other reviews for Hammerite and as with my oen experience with the garage door paint, the problem is it doesn't dry quickly, and seems to take twice as long, or longer to dry than instructions say! That meant what should have been a day's spray, lightly, leave, spray again and building the coats up, turned into three days of sanding in between coats, and then giving up! I bought Rustoleum instead, and this worked a treat! This product is rubbish, and my advice is don't buy it, as you will never get a good finish, let alone a perfect one!Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Worth the extra few quid over the cheap stuff
About the only product up to the job these days. Does not chip or scratch as easily as other paints. Gives a decent protective coat and hides imperfections. It is quite expensive and you get through a can surprisingly quickly (well, I do!) when coating metal parts and surfaces, but still worth it. eBay cheaper than most (£9?) compared to rip-off DIY stores (£14?)Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Satin black smoothrite: a great DIY metal paint
It’s a durable good quality paint that gives great results with practice. My only issue with the product is that find find that the can outlet tends to get clogged and blocked - and that’s even after inverting the can and blowing out propellant and cleaning the nozzle after use.
