The Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard is a piece of hardware designed for a blend of performance, durability, and features. Gigabyte included the AMD AM3 processor socket in this motherboard. In order to deal with these, the Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3 has a variety of technologies. For humidity, the motherboard has a tighter mesh of fibers in the board itself. This reduces the chance of wires shortening out from moisture. Heat has always been a problem with electronics and computers in particular, and the GA-78LMT-USB3 is designed to be more tolerant of heat. This takes the route of using capacitors and other circuitry designed to last in higher temperatures. Similarly, to resist electrostatic charge, the integrated circuits are all built to have high resistance. Gigabyte handled power failure protection with redundancy. It uses the Dual BIOS so that if one BIOS fails from power or a bad update, the secondary BIOS will take over. This preserves system settings and allows it to start. The motherboard also has the additional benefit of dealing with most other types of BIOS failures.Gigabyte's GA-78LMT-USB3 motherboard has support for a variety of components and performance profiles. The CPU slot supports AMD with the AM3 processor line. This includes the AM3 Phenom II processor and the Athlon II processor. The north bridge uses the AMD 760G chipset, and the south bridge uses the AMD SB710 chipset. The Hyper Transport bus handles 5200 mega transfers each second. System memory can have up to 4 1.5-volt DDR3 chips for a total of 32 GB of RAM. This uses a dual-channel architecture to make sure they are identical. These memory modules can be either 1066 or 1333 megahertz.For the built-in graphics, there are three connection ports: D-sub, DVI-D, and HDMI with a resolution of 1920 by 1200. These are situated on the north bridge. High-definition audio is provided using the Realtek ALC887 codec and an S/PDIF port. This can be sent across any of 2, 4, 5.1, or 7.1 channels. Also, there are three audio jacks to support a line-in/line-out microphone for all your connection needs.The remaining connections include a Realtek GBE LAN chip with 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet. It has eight USB 2.0 ports on the south bridge and four USB connections in the back. The rest come from internal connections. Another four USB 3.0 ports are on two Etron EJ168 chips, half internal and half external. A PS/2 connector is provided for keyboard and mouse support. Internal upgrade slots include six 3 Gbps SATA connections.Finally, the Gigabyte motherboard supports ErP Lot 6. Solid simple AM3 board
Solid simple to use and set up board that supports a wide range of AM3 CPUs from low end Semprons through the various low power Athlon II X2, X3 and X4 CPUs through the under 125W Phenom and FX units. 6 SATA v 3.0 ports and 4 RAM slots won't turn this into a killer high end gaming build but it will most certainly hold its own. This board would serve well as the basis for a low cost home desktop general purpose build. I use mine for a home server, (all those SATA ports on a low priced board that supports down to 25W Athlon II 250u and 260u units). Just a few problems
the board will not POST and system will not boot. I put in an AMD FX-6200 The CPU was used as was the motherboard.. Fans run, hard drives run, dvd drive will spin. Nothing on the monitor. Gigabyte 78LMT-USB3 Motherboard
Motherboard is a good value for the money i really like it so far, i got the AMD fx 4300 and it is a lot faster then my old AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ the motherboard does seem to get a little hot 50-60C not sure if that is normal or if it is my small case and lack of fans so i hope to add more soon. this only has sata 2 not sata 3 it doesn't bother me though if you are wondering if you should get this i would say go for it. if you need something cheap just for web surfing or youtube videos or even some video rendering it does fare job! i would add more fans though to the case.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Older chipset but still decent
760G chipset is from 2010 or so but this board is from 2014. Supports AM3/AM3+ processors so u can use an FX 8 core if you wanted. Maximum memory is 32gb ddr3 1333. Onboard video leaves more to be desired but its ok for a basic htpc (onboard hdmi).Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned

Inexpensive upgrade to "less old"
Purchased this unit to upgrade from an older, slower AM2 micro ATX to facilitate an upgrade to Windows 64-bit, and to make use of the "infamous" AMD core unlock feature that this MOBO supports.. I turned a 3-core (Non "black edition" into a 4 core with no issues. The board is as any other Micro ATX in its arrangement although I had to consult the master schematics (available online) for it in order to know where to put the lead for the front on/off switch and LEDs, and my 600-watt power source did not have an 8-pin 12-vole lead but the board's 8-pin accommodates a 4-pin lead, much the same as a 4-prong CPU fan input can support a 3-pin CPU fan lead.. Just don't overclock to the point where you melt the connectors or worse. Love the Features.
Supports IDE and Sata. I was able to unlock an old Athlon x3 to a phenom x4. even though it's a 760 it still has fun features to play with and I like the Non UEFI bios very straight forward. Easy install, nice improvement in performance

Good replacement for hwat I had
Although motherboard into says 32GB Ram can be installed, system only shows 3.75 GB available. Had this same message on the old board and thought I was getting rid of the message.
