The group's heady blend of biblical imagery, pastoral introspection, and raucous, pub-soaked heartache may be earnest to a fault, but when the wildly imperfect Sigh No More is firing on all cylinders, as is the case with stand-out cuts like "The Cave," "Winter Winds," and "Little Lion Man," it's hard not to get swept up in the rapture.

  • Not 180g vinyl

This was listed as 180g vinyl and I could tell as soon as it left the sleeve that it is lighter than that. I could not see on the sleeve any indication that this was 180g heavyweight vinyl, though it was and still is listed as such. It actually weighed in at 160g. The sound is also quite light-weight. The recording level seems quite low and there is a lack of depth to the sound. Not terrible, but I have many records which are much better sounding. I bought Babel on vinyl at the same time and the sound quality was the same. The CD's on this occasion sound a lot better. I think essentially these are poor pressings (Sigh No More and Babel). Babel was worse because the disc is badly dished! It is shaped like a shallow cone, so on a turntable without a central clamp for the record would be unplayable.
