Can work well with small modification and doesn't steam-up googles
I have been pleased with using the original Martindale type for many years and prefer this type of mask as your googles don't steam-up with it. This draper model has a similar frame but the pads are thinner (just a piece of lint as opposed to a thick cotton wool filter in the Martindale) but I found I could make it work well with a few quick modifications as follows:
The elastic strap can easily come undone, the Martindale has clips on the ends to secure it. With the strap back in place I used a hot melt glue gun to create a lump of glue (polyester) on each end, now it can't pull out and can still be adjusted tighter if required.
The 4 tabs that hold the filter have no grip. Pulling back the tabs slightly to show the inside surface and warming two at a time with a heat gun (150C or hair dryer ok), I then applied a dollop of hot melt glue to each (it sticks well if the metal is warmed up first), then turned it facing down so the glue formed protruding blobs on the inside of those tabs. After doing all four then they grip the filter well, you can then raise it higher and cover over the nose properly, pushing the frame in on each side of the nose to get a good seal there.
I hope the above helps.
Don't Waste your money on this Aluminium type of filter
I Bought this mask in the thinking it was the same as the old type of mask used in the 70's / 80's, Aluminium front with a thickish filter , But the filter part of this mask is so thin its probably not doing anything, maybe try doubling up a tissue and putting it in would be better ,The elastic pulled through as soon as I put it on and so I had to tie a knot in each end. I don't recommend this filter at all !
