Ergonomics at its best
Just like the famous Bauhaus chair, simplicity and functionality, rather than bells and whistles, rules the day. Platform height at 510mm is perfect for working at ceiling height, and meets all current health and safety at work standards. (There is even a useful risk assessment information sheet included within the packaging). Product is sturdy and lightweight, and packs away easily and compactly. Locking clips on alternate corners ensure stability in use, and cross braces on legs are designed as strong steps up to the platform height. Versatile, as it doubles as a temporary workbench as well as a platform. The 600mm x 600mm surface is much more useful than narrower alternatives, as it is less likely that you might lose your footing / balance when aloft. There is also plenty of room for placing required tools alongside you on the platform, so stepping up and down for other requirements whilst working is greatly reduced. All in all a fabulous bit of kit, and I wish I had bought one 20 years ago! Bought a second one soon after the first, for my good friend and neighbour, so we each now know where we can borrow a second one when workload dictates.Verified purchase: YesCondition: New

Was expecting something more robust from Youngman
I was expecting something a bit more robust from Youngman, esp as not cheap. It arrived quickly but there was a dink in one of the legs and as a result when folding it away you have to always go from one end first. STRONG AND STABLE
Strong and stable. This square version is more stable, and safer, in my opinion than the narrow versions. Although the narrows obviously score where space is a consideration. This Youngman platform also weathers well. Most of it is ali, and steel bits seem well protected. No rust yet. The GRP version is better for power work. But Youngman has inexplicably stopped it. The SAME GRP design is available from other makers, but at a hefty price hike. GRP also has the edge when considering corrosion and clattering in transit. Get two ! Wish I'd bought one years ago
I bought this to help my two large dogs jump into the back of my car, and it works ok for this. However I'm also finding it indispensable for all kinds of diy jobs in the house and garden. It is well made and solid, and being foldable is easy to store.
