American horror directed by Robert Kurtzman. Back in 1127, an evil djinn used its wish-granting abilities to create havoc in the court of the Persian King and was subsequently imprisoned in a fire opal and hidden in a statue. In the present, the statue is on its way to collector Raymond Beaumont (Robert Englund) when it is shattered in an accident. The opal is stolen and taken for appraisal to an auctioneer, whose assistant, Alexandra (Tammy Lauren), asks her boyfriend Josh (Tony Crane) to analyse it. Josh then accidentally unleashes the djinn, which kills him and goes in search of Alexandra, intending to discover what her three wishes are and then twist them to its own ends so that it might destroy the world.

Additional InformationAfter inadvertently freeing an evil Djinn from his gemstone prison, an auction house gemologist fights to bring his rampages to an end, as they include stealing the souls of the hapless humans whose wishes bring them to ironic early ends. Heavy on the computer-assisted effects, with some mitigating touches, such as Ted Raimi in a cameo and Englund as a stodgy art collector. Craven acted as Executive Producer, but later removed his name.
