Great photos from great camera for great price!
Non D40 good DSLR for its age! Especially for the current pricing. Image quality is very good with nice natural colors. Lightweight and easy to use controls. Has auto focus points and sometimes will focus on nearest object which may not be in the middle of the scene. But glad I bought it and would do so again.

Nikon D40x excellent choice
My D40x is in my car at all times. I use it to “protect” my newer and much more expensive Nikon DSLR cameras. It uses all Nikon F mount lenses, except for the newest AF-P versions. It is small, light, simple to use with excellent image quality. I bought a camera armor case for $5 on eBay.

just what i wanted and its cheap especially at below $100.00 body only will do it again if I had to to
very quick and easy to use . very light to use on trips only 6 mb but can I can make 11 by 14 s. will use it on business trips iso is only 1600 but I set it at iso 200 and shoot at speed 500 and f stop at 5,6 or f 8 outside I have 5 dslr Nikons and this is a quick and easy way to shoot

More for the money than you can imagine
It is simply an excellent camera that consistently provides very good clear images. Even the auto selection is very reliable and I am new with this kind of Camera so I am slowly learning some of the sophisticated aspects that this camera provides. I am a believer and I am completely enjoying using the camera on and learning more about each day.

I had never used a dslr before. I had read this is a good starter camera for around $100.00. It is. Very easy to figure out most of it just messing around with it. If you need some info there is a bunch written on the d40 online. It doesn't have a lot of the bells and whistles of the newer dslr's, but a good place to start for the money and will make a good out and about/backup camera.

Excellent "budget" option for a beginner or amateur photographer
If you travel like I do, it's great to have a camera like the D40X that will take great pictures without risking thousands of dollars in equipment. At 10.2 megapixels, you can take awesome pictures that won't eat up your entire hard drive. You can add on a variety of equipment and lenses, again at great prices, and make yourself a very respectable camera kit that you can count on without having to take out a loan! Highly recommended.
