This MWC classic aviator model is 100m water resistant with a solid stainless steel case and screw-down crown and case back. MWC hybrid watches essentially combine the best of both new and traditional watchmaking technology.
I have a strong preference for mechanical watches. This is the only quartz in my collection and is there for decorating, gardening or when I feel like a change. There’s no date to change, which is a bonus for occasional wear, it keeps time as you’d expect from a quartz and it has a four tick to the second movement which I much prefer than the usual quartz second hand movement.
MWC as a brand seem to place themselves as an alternative to CWC and Luminox with some of their products, as well as other classic military designs. I have no strong feelings about the brand, and no other experience of their products, but this is a solid feeling watch. The lume is fine but the second hand, although colour matched to the luminous paint, doesn’t actually glow which I think is a shame. Water resistance is a decent 100 meters. I like the screw down crown as I don’t accidentally pull the crown out when retrieving things from my pocket. I may eventually replace the mineral glass with sapphire.
I paid half the retail price for this one. The model is now out of stock. I like the flieger / pilot look. It’s a bit Sinn meets type A - very easy to read and came with a leather strap of decent enough quality but with white stitching for some reason that doesn’t match the dial. Having the MWC logo in the vintage tones would have been better, too. The 38mm case size works well for the watch and they have stuck with 20mm lugs. It’s now on an MN style nato as I didn’t want to spend more on the strap than the watch cost!
